Glamis Sand Dunes (aka Imperial Sand Dunes or Algodones Dunes)
These - are - we - in - Morocco sand dunes are just 2.5 hour drive from San Diego and home to the largest sand dunes in California! If your'e looking for a dramatic landscape to exchange your vows, this big open expanse will feel perfect.
When to Elope in San Diego
Now that you might have a few ideas of what kind of activities and locations would feel most you for your big day - it's time to think about what season to elope!
Spring - It's wildflowers season! I love spring in San Diego! Be mindful that us locals have a name for "May Grey" and "June Gloom" for a reason as the marine layer comes in. But the clouds are part of the magic of San Diego and can clear up depending on the day.
Summer - The best place to summer in my opinion. It can get hot inland, but usually we still have a breeze by the coast. I love the long days and the endless options for exploring San Diego.
Fall - If you come to San Diego in the fall, I highly recommend a visit to Julian to get some apple pie or pick pumpkins. Fall might still have warm temperatures, this is still southern california. Fall months in San Diego are perfect for eloping and going on adventures.
Winter - Since our winter is still pretty mild, it's a great time to elope in San Diego. There might be some days that have a little chill or rain. But it really is a special sunny wonderland. Also winter sunsets? Is there anything more magical? As I type this I am sitting in my backyard in January with a little sweater on in 70 degree weather - is there anything more San Diego than that?
Picking Your Vendors for your San Diego Elopement
Photographer - Choose a photographer first (and not just speaking about myself) because we also double as elopement planners. Schedule a call with me through my contact form and we will determine what style of elopement adventure makes the most sense to tell your love story.
Venue - If you are having guests join for part of your elopement or microwedding, I would suggest locking in the location for the venue. If you are choosing a more intimate elopement - it's time to set up the permits and decide on who is officiating your ceremony.
Outfits , MUA & florals - I have tons of suggestions for local vendors!
